70%+ of all undergraduates receive some type of financial aid.
*Families with assets above what is typical for their income level may not qualify for this level of support, but Notre Dame is still committed to funding 100% of demonstrated need. A family's assets might include cash and savings, investments, business net worth, other real estate, home equity, and any other assets. We exclude qualifying retirement accounts.

Scholarships, Not Loans
While your family may choose to borrow to help fund your education, the University's financial aid offer is composed of only grants and scholarships that do not need to be paid back.
Our 4-Year Commitment to You
Your admission to Notre Dame comes with a four-year commitment. We will continue to invest in you and your education throughout your undergraduate years. You can be confident that as long as your family’s financial circumstances remain substantially the same, your Notre Dame financial aid will remain consistent. If your family's financial situation changes and you require additional assistance, we will review your application and adjust our aid to meet any additional need.
Determining Family Contribution for 2026-2027
Notre Dame will estimate your family's ability to contribute to your education expenses on a yearly basis, based on the financial and household information you provide in your financial aid application. The need analysis formula takes into account many factors, some of which include income, assets (not including retirement assets), certain expenses (e.g., medical expenses), family size, and number in college.
